View a limited-time exhibit featuring items and images from the Museum’s collection that explore Joe’ life in Muskegon.
12:00-2:00 PM Parachute Physics
Did you know Joe Beyrle was a Paratrooper? Learn about the science behind wind drag and friction and how they interact with a parachute as you construct your own. See how gravity and air resistance work together to allow your parachute to float to safety within our wind tunnel.
12:00 PM – 4:00 PM Happy 100th Birthday Joe!
“Jumpin'” Joe Beyrle would turn 100 years old and in honor of his dedication to this country and amazing story we invite you to eat cake in his honor, while supplies last!

Conquer the skies just like Jumpin’ Joe Beyrle! Create your own Paratrooper, design your parachute, and watch it take flight with the USS Silversides Submarine in the background! Fuzzy stick “action figure mini parachute, strings, and decorating materials provided.
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Boot Camp on the Hill
Ever wonder what it might be like to be a paratrooper and the type of training they went through? Could you compete with Jumpin’ Joe Beyrle getting ready for World War m Test your skills through this fun agility course at the USS Silversides Submarine Museum! Comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are encouraged!
