Gettysburg Lecture Series – Museum Center

Join us on a voyage of discovery in The Literature, Art and History of Gettysburg and the Civil War. This special series of four lectures will be presented on Monday evenings from September 12th-October 3rd at the Lakeshore Museum Center by Muskegon Community College Literature Instructor Michael Johnson, Art Instructor Tim Norris and History Instructors Kurt Troutman and George Maniates.
Lecture Night Two:
3 days that changed history! The scourge of conflict at a hamlet named Gettysburg, resulting in 55,000 casualties and forever changing the character of the nation. The three-day seminal battle of our nation is revealed and examined.
- Day One: Reluctant first Contact between Northern & Southern armies on the outskirts of town. The North retreats…to the high ground.
- Day Two: General Lee takes the initiative at Little Round Top. Colonel Chamberlain must hold the Union line-at all costs!
- Day Three: General George Pickett leads an ill-fated frontal assault on the Union lines. The course of American history is changed forever.
