Rosie Wilkins and African American Quilt Research

February 24, 2021 @ 6:00 pm

Doing research on African American quilt history can often be a challenge.

Join us for a Virtual presentation by Marsha MacDowell, Professor of Art and Art History and Curator of Folk Arts and Quilt Studies at Michigan State University Museum to learn about some of the research that was done thirty years ago on Rosie Wilkins. Then learn about free online tools and resources, such as The Quilt Index (www.quiltindex.org) and Enslaved.org that are providing new ways today to research not only African American quilt artists and history, but also any quilt artist and quilt-making tradition around the world.
