June 18th Update

Despite the “reopening” of Michigan on June 8th, we will not be open to the public yet. Staff will be phased back to work to get caught up on the last 10 weeks of exhibit and site prep and prepare for a safe reopening for everyone.

___

As the Lakeshore Museum Center and Historic Sites phase into reopening here are the main steps we are taking to help provide the best and safest experience for both our guests and staff. Steps include:

  • requiring facemasks for everyone 3 years of age and older

  • requiring physical distancing between groups of at least 6 feet

  • a max capacity of guests in each building

  • providing directional signage for best route through exhibits

  • providing extra hand-sanitizer stations

  • cleaning high-touch surfaces regularly

  • drinking fountains will be turned off, so we ask that visitors bring their own re-sealable water bottles

  • having only one hands-on room open per day at the Museum Center

  • limiting the Museum Center capacity to 20 guests

  • limiting tour sizes to 6 guests from the same household at the Hackley and Hume Historic Site; tours offered at the top of the hour.

  • Limiting the Fire Barn Museum capacity to 6 guests

  • Limiting the Scolnik House capacity of the Depression Era to 6 guests

We cannot wait to see you, but please if you are feeling unwell in any way, wait to visit until you are feeling better.
