DESCRIPTION:The Nature Cats of Muskegon need your help! \nThe museum has partnered with Big Lake Humane Society to help the cats. They will be at the museum with information about adopting and fostering cats. \nDonations will also be gathered to help Muskegon’s furry friends. Museum staff will have a craft station to create pet name plates. \nItems accepted for donation: \nCat and Dog food(dry or wet)\nCat and Dog toys\nCat litter\nPet beds\nSmall throw blankets\nPaper Towels\nGarbage Bags\nLaundry Detergent \nFree for In & Out of County residents. \n    \nNature Cat: Backyard and Beyond was developed by the Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago\, Glenview\, Illinois. \nExhibit Sponsors: \n  \n  \nThis activity is supported by the MICHIGAN ARTS AND CULTURE COUNCIL and the NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS. \n                    \n

Hear about the past and current uses of different buildings\, discover the history of former Muskegonites\, and see what downtown is like today. \nMaintaining American Independence Tour \nAs we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the fight for our independence\, we examine those who have fought since the Revolution to maintain that freedom. This tour will look at the various wars American has been through and look at local residents’ part in those wars. We will see monuments dedicated to those who participated and learn about some industries that helped support the cause. \nWalking Tours are 90 minutes long and cover 1 mile on flat city sidewalks with minimal elevation changes. DESCRIPTION:This open house event will give families a chance to see the Nature Cat exhibit and meet its star Nature Cat!  Starting at 1:15 and every 30 minutes after there will be a guided tour to the local garden and park (weather permitting) to observe nature and learn about our local plants and animals.
