This 2-day camp\, based on the ideas of the PBS show and exhibit\, will teach young campers about being good caretakers of the environment. \nCampers will make bottle birdfeeders and go“birding” in the museum\, they will make musical instruments out of things found in nature\, go on a nature scavenger hunt\, learn about types of clouds\, and much more. DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Michigan Maritime Alliance \nJoin us for the first annual Ships Along the Shoreline\, a free family-friendly event celebrating Muskegon’s rich maritime history and waterfront heritage. \nHosted on the Mart Dock campus on Saturday\, June 20th\, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM\, this event is presented in collaboration with the Muskegon Maritime Alliance\, a newly formed group dedicated to preserving\, celebrating\, and sharing the stories that shaped Muskegon’s maritime legacy. \nGuests can enjoy a day along the shoreline featuring local vendors\, food trucks\, panel discussions\, maritime displays\, and opportunities to learn more about the people\, vessels\, industries\, and waterways that helped build Muskegon’s identity as a historic port city. \nThis event is free and open to the whole family. Come explore\, learn\, and celebrate Muskegon’s connection to the water! \nDate: Saturday\, June 20thTime: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM\nLocation: Mart Dock Campus\n560 Mart St\nMuskegon\, MI 49440 \nAdmission: Free \n\nPlus at the Muskegon Heritage Museum of Business & Industry see the a historic steam boat! \nThe Woodville Queen is a locally built\, wood fired steam launch. The vertical boiler\, single cylinder steam engine and pump were handcrafted in Norton Shores and installed in a salvaged steel hull lifeboat. Longtime MHMBI volunteer Adam Winters is the current caretaker\, captain\, and engineer. She can be seen steaming on the Grand River\, Mona Lake\, or Muskegon Lake on sunny summer afternoons. Be on the lookout for her distinctive canvas awning\, smokestack\, and steam whistle! \n\n\n
