SUMMARY:Urban Renewal Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:In the late 1940s\, urban renewal began as cities faced a decline in their downtown business districts and neighborhoods. More people moved to the suburbs\, which caused downtown to struggle. Muskegon was no exception. \nStroll down 1960s Western Avenue\, visit the Muskegon Mall\, and explore visions for the future of downtown Muskegon. Learn about Muskegon’s own urban renewal experience in the 1960s and 1970s\, its decline\, and the development underway today. \nThe price of this exhibit is included in the general price of admission to the Museum\, which is free for Muskegon County residents and Museum members and $5 for out-of-county residents. \nThis activity is supported by the MICHIGAN ARTS AND CULTURE COUNCIL and the NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS.
