DESCRIPTION:During touring season\, we are open for tours that will be starting every 20 minutes. Tours at the Hackley and Hume Historic Site usually take about an hour. The tickets are sold in the City Barn (Carriage House) at the Hackley and Hume Historic Site. With a purchased ticket\, visitors will enjoy a classic Hackley and Hume tour at the site\, the Scolnik House of the Depression Era\, and the Fire Barn Museum. With a combo ticket\, visitors will also have access to the Main Museum Center. During the season we also schedule school tours\, group tours\, accommodate the Pearl Mist and other cruise line passengers. The school and group tours are scheduled through Aaron Mace at aaron@lakeshoremuseum.orgor by phone 231-724-5534 \nMay-October Hours: Thursday\, Friday\, Saturday\, and Monday 10am-4pm | Sunday 1pm-4pm | Tuesday and Wednesday CLOSED. DESCRIPTION:Honeybee colonies are in decline worldwide. What is happening to our bees? And what is being done about it? Better yet\, what can you do to make a difference? This talk will feature a quick summary of the importance of managed honey bee colonies and dig into the complex and interrelated root causes of their decline. I hope to give you hope and purpose by highlighting some of the ways we can all help the honey bees. \nSpeaker Anne Marie Fauvel is a Faculty Specialist at the University of Maryland working for The Bee Informed Partnership\, coordinating Technical Transfer Teams gathering data\, supporting commercial beekeepers and facilitating honey bee research projects throughout the US. Visitors are welcomed to walk-in during open hours. Tours leave the City Barn (carriage house) every 20 minutes and leave in groups of 10 or less. The last tour leaves at 4:00pm.
