SUMMARY:Secrets of Bees Exhibit Opening and Family Fun Night
DESCRIPTION:The Secrets of Bees Exhibit is opening March 23! Families are invited to come celebrate the new exhibit with a special open house evening of fun. From 5:30 to 7:30 pm\, March 23\, kids can come explore the new hands-on exhibit\, make a bee craft\, and learn how to create their own bee habitats at home\, with instructions from the Muskegon Conservation District. \nThe MSU Institute of Agricultural Technology at Muskegon Community College will also be on hand to share information about their beekeeping program. In addition\, families can learn about honey production and the proper way to plant a bee-friendly garden. \nThe scientific and environmental concerns about colony collapse are among the many topics to be explored. This exhibit examines the ways bees affect us\, and our impact on them. This is a timely topic as the bee population continues to be threatened and more and more people are becoming aware of the problem\, and interested in learning how they can help. \nThe Secrets of Bees Exhibit runs from March 23 to September 15\, 2018 and features dress up opportunities — for kids and adults alike — with bee costumes and a beekeeper suit\, a crawl-in hive\, and a roadside stand where kids can have fun selling honey. \nAdmission is always free for Muskegon County residents and just $3 for non-residents. \n
