SUMMARY:Big Wheels Make & Take - Heritage Park
DESCRIPTION:Shanty boys had a hard and dangerous job working for the logging industry. Part of the job involved moving the logs along snowy or iced roads and down rivers.  For this reason\, logging was done largely during the winter and early spring when logs could be moved easily. \nWhen the Big Wheel was invented around 1875\, logs could be transported without snow or ice.  The invention of the Big Wheel allowed the logging industry to continue into the summer months. \nMake your own miniature Big Wheel at Michigan’s Heritage Park. Make a big wheel for fun or take it home with you for $1.  Regular park admission rates apply.

The role of the public narrative in telling the stories of battle. Who was the designer and sculptor of Muskegon’s “Soldiers and Sailors Monument” in Hackley Park? \nFreedom by the Pen: The Emancipation Proclamation. The single act broadened the goals of the war and struck down an American social norm that had existed for over 250 years. \n  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nChoose an Option:\n\n\nSeptember 12 Only $10.00 USDSeptember 19 Only $10.00 USDSeptember 26 Only $10.00 USDOctober 3 Only $10.00 USDEntire Series Museum Member $30.00 USDEntire Series Non-Member $35.00 USD\n\n\nParticipants Name(s) & Phone:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nWant to experience Gettysburg first hand?\nThe lecture series will be followed by an optional 4 day tour of Gettysburg. \n[button link=”https://lakeshoremuseum.org/events/gettysburg-guided-tour-muskegon-community-college/”]Gettysburg Guided Tour[/button]
