SUMMARY:Make and Take - Museum Center
DESCRIPTION:For $1 participants can make their own sun print design using solar paper.  The solar paper is coated with light-sensitive chemicals\, which react to light waves and particles when exposed to light. When you place objects on the paper\, they block the light and turn white while the paper around them remains blue. Water stops the process and fixes your images on the paper.  This program is open house style; advanced registration not required.

SUMMARY:Big Wheels Make & Take - Heritage Park
DESCRIPTION:Shanty boys had a hard and dangerous job working for the logging industry. Part of the job involved moving the logs along snowy or iced roads and down rivers.  For this reason\, logging was done largely during the winter and early spring when logs could be moved easily. \nWhen the Big Wheel was invented around 1875\, logs could be transported without snow or ice.  The invention of the Big Wheel allowed the logging industry to continue into the summer months. \nMake your own miniature Big Wheel at Michigan’s Heritage Park. Make a big wheel for fun or take it home with you for $1.  Regular park admission rates apply.
