DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, May 1\, 2021 – Opening Day! Season runs through Sunday\, October 31\, 2021 \nDuring touring season\, we are open for tours that will be starting every 30 minutes. Tours at the Hackley and Hume Historic Site usually take about an hour. Tickets are sold in the City Barn (Carriage House) at the Hackley and Hume Historic Site. \nWith a purchased ticket\, visitors will enjoy a classic Hackley and Hume tour at the site\, the Scolnik House of the Depression Era\, and the Fire Barn Museum. \nFree Parking is available on Webster Avenue and 6th Street.

DESCRIPTION:Help us celebrate! Our new interactive exhibit for kids\, Turtle Travels\, is opening for the summer! Families will enjoy several hands-on stations throughout the exhibit while learning how to help protect turtles. Exhibit features include a life-sized board game\, a Swiss Army turtle\, and two fun photo-ops! We will also have turtle-themed activities set-up outside on our side lawn. \nTo protect staff and guests we ask guests to wear facemasks\, use hand sanitizer often\, and maintain a 6ft+ distance from other guests when possible. Capacity rules will be followed and will be updated on our website and social media closer to the event.  \nFree for Muskegon County residents & Museum Members\, non-residents ages 3 and up are $5. Open-house style event\, advanced registration not required.

SUMMARY:Little Learners: STEAM Play & Learn
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join a special Play and Learn program at the Lakeshore Museum Center on the fourth Thursday of each month (note Nov & Dec are on the third Thursday due to holidays). “Little Learners” is a free literacy-based program for Muskegon County infants and toddlers ages 0-4. \nDuring this program\, participants will be invited into one of two rooms for a storytime inside. Then both groups will head outside for socially distanced playtime. Registration via Eventbrite is required but there is no charge for this program. All attendees must register including caregivers & siblings. Due to the current restrictions\, 10 people will be allowed in each story room. \nAlso in consideration of current health concerns we will temp check everyone at the door\, and while inside the museum everyone over 2 years of age will need to wear a mask according to our current policy. Outside we kindly ask that adults wear masks\, but children are not required to. \nThis program will run for 50-60 minutes\, 15-20 inside and the rest outside. During this program adults and children will have fun learning through songs\, stories\, sensory stations\, motor skills stations\, art and more\, all with a STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Art and Math) theme! \nEvery two months we will feature a new theme and book for participants to take home for free! \nRSVPs required. DESCRIPTION:Families whose children have ASD\, or sensory disorders\, are invited to attend a special ASD sensory after-hours event! This is a FREE event where a variety of accommodations have been put into place to create an inclusive\, welcoming\, and safe place for the children and families. Families can visit the museum’s exhibits\, work on a craft\, and have the option to visit the quiet area to relax and unwind. \nSensory bags with items like noise-canceling headphones\, visors\, and fidget toys will also be available for families to check out. We will require accompanying adults to wear masks and families to social distance from other families.
