DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun open house examining Native Americans in West Michigan.We will be looking at some of the activities they would have done in the winter\, and you will get a chance to make and take your own game pieces for a game called pugasaing. Visitors will also get a chance to learn how to finger weaver\, and get up close to some artifacts from the museum’s collection. \nThis program is in conjunction with other programming that goes with this year’s Great Michigan Read book\, Fire Keepers Daughter by Angeline Boulley. Be sure to come down and pick up information about the rest of the programs for the Great Michigan Read. \nThis event is free for museum members and Muskegon County residents and is $5 for out-of-county visitors. \nFunding for these programs has been provided by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and National Endowment of the Arts.

DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join a special Play and Learn program at the Muskegon Museum of History and Science on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. \n“Little Learners” is a free literacy-based program for Muskegon County infants and toddlers ages 0-4. During this program participants will be invited to join us for a 15-20 minute organized story time followed by free play. Registration via Ticket Tailor is required but there is no charge for this program. All attendees must register including caregivers & siblings. \nThis program will run for 50-60 minutes. During this program adults and children will have fun learning through songs\, stories\, sensory stations\, motor skills stations\, art and more! \nOur themes for this session will be:\nSept/Oct: Opposites\nNov: Mini & Little Read of the Lakeshore\nDec: Winter\nJan/Feb: Space \nWe will have a free book for families to take home as well as special crafts and activities to do. \nRSVPs required. During this program participants will be invited to join us for a 15-20 minute organized story time followed by free play. Registration via Ticket Tailor is required but there is no charge for this program. All attendees must register including caregivers & siblings. \nThis program will run for 50-60 minutes. During this program adults and children will have fun learning through songs\, stories\, sensory stations\, motor skills stations\, art and more! \nOur themes for this session will be:\nSept/Oct: Opposites\nNov: Mini & Little Read of the Lakeshore\nDec: Winter\nJan/Feb: Space \nWe will have a free book for families to take home as well as special crafts and activities to do. \nRSVPs required.
