DESCRIPTION:Each month at the museum\, we will have a specific program dedicated to a different Michigan bloodsucker. \nOur March program will be all about leeches. Did you know that leeches are recognized by the FDA as medical devices? Did you know that being a leech collector was once a viable job? Come join staff members of the Lakeshore Museum Center as we delve deep into the natural and cultural history of the Leech. You might be surprised\, horrified\, and intrigued. DESCRIPTION:Each month at the museum\, we will have a specific program dedicated to a different Michigan bloodsucker. \nJoin Doctor William Miller from Calvin University as he shares his research into one of the smallest and most dangerous bloodsuckers in Michigan\, ticks. DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, May 1\, we are hosting a blood drive during open hours. We’ll have a craft station to keep kiddos busy while grown-ups give blood! \nThe drive is open to anyone 17 and older in good health. DESCRIPTION:In the late 1940s\, urban renewal began as cities faced a decline in their downtown business districts and neighborhoods. More people moved to the suburbs\, which caused downtown to struggle. Muskegon was no exception. \nStroll down 1960s Western Avenue\, visit the Muskegon Mall\, and explore visions for the future of downtown Muskegon.
