SUMMARY:Who is Rosie Lee Wilkins? Piecing Together Her History’ Opening Tours
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Who is Rosie Lee Wilkins? Piecing Together Her History’ Opening Tours \nVisit our newest exhibit on local Muskegon quilter Rosie Lee Wilkins. During this guided tour\, museum members will get a behind-the-scenes look from the staff about Rosie’s quilts\, the exhibit process\, and what we learned about Rosie herself. To uncover her full story\, join us during our guided tour as we celebrate her legacy. \nQuilts are made from an endless combination of patterns\, colors\, fabrics\, and techniques. The maker stitches these different parts to one another to create a one-of-a-kind quilt. Like a quilt\, our lives are made of strips that must be sewn together to create a story with a lasting legacy. Details\, stories\, and objects are all pieces of our lives that can be combined in endless ways. Even one missing piece leaves the story incomplete and the quilt unfinished. \nIn her lifetime\, Rosie created over 100 quilts and unfortunately\, her story was left unfinished. Along with highlighting some of her quilts—which are only a part of her legacy—visitors to the exhibit will get a behind the scenes look at how the museum staff worked to research and piece together the history of Rosie’s life. \nREGISTRATION/RSVP INFO:\nTours are FREE for Museum Members\, but RSVP is required. Please call 231-722-0278 to reserve a spot.\nBecause of COVID-19 restrictions\, masks are required while inside the museum. \nNot a member? Join today and get exclusive access to everything the LMC has to offer\, including discounts to our Museum Store and our Reciprocal Membership Program made up of a network of museums in North America and beyond.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row] \nView all of our upcoming events\nAccessibility:\nA ramp entrance can be found on the 4th St. side of the museum for wheelchair and stroller access. \nParking:\nFree Parking is available in the lot on Clay Ave. across from the main entrance to the museum.
