SUMMARY:Little Learners: Play & Learn Fall/Winter 2023 - Opposites
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join a special Play and Learn program at the Muskegon Museum of History and Science on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. \n“Little Learners” is a free literacy-based program for Muskegon County infants and toddlers ages 0-4. During this program participants will be invited to join us for a 15-20 minute organized story time followed by free play. Registration via Ticket Tailor is required but there is no charge for this program. All attendees must register including caregivers & siblings. \nThis program will run for 50-60 minutes. During this program adults and children will have fun learning through songs\, stories\, sensory stations\, motor skills stations\, art and more! \nOur themes for this session will be:\nSept/Oct: Opposites\nNov: Mini & Little Read of the Lakeshore\nDec: Winter\nJan/Feb: Space \nWe will have a free book for families to take home as well as special crafts and activities to do. \nRSVPs required. Register through Ticket Tailor at https://buytickets.at/lakeshoremuseumcenter/991039 \nSupported through a grant from the MAISD and Great Start program.

Join museum staff in painting a pumpkin\, pumpkin themed activities\, and flinging pumpkins at the museum using the trebuchet to maximize the smashing! There will also be a pumpkin-carving contest. Vote on your favorite pumpkin through donations to support the museum! \nThis event is free for Muskegon County residents and $5 for non-residents. \nFunding for these programs has been provided by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and National Endowment of the Arts.

DESCRIPTION:The Hume Home for the Aged opened 111 years ago. It was known as the “Old People’s Home” when it opened in 1912. Lumber baron Thomas Hume endowed the operation with a gift of $300\,000 to ensure a safe\, comfortable place for the aged or infirm. That legacy lives on today in the Hume Home Assisted Living.
