SUMMARY:Growing the Three Sisters
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we welcome Danielle Fegan from Three Dogs Seed Farm.Three Dogs Seed Farm is a small-scale seed farm situated on Anishinaabe land in the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Their mission is to grow and share seeds important to our community and to steward crops adapted to our unique northern growing conditions. We will be discussing seed saving as well as growing a Three Sisters garden. \nOverall\, both of these practices contribute to the preservation of Indigenous knowledge\, promote environmental sustainability\, and empower communities to control their food systems. Danielle will be joining us via Zoom. You have the option to watch her virtually from home or join us to see her virtually at the Muskegon Museum of History and Science. Those joining us in at the museum will receive a complimentary seed pack of squash\, bean\, and corn seeds while supplies last. \nThis program is presented in conjunction with the Great Michigan Read. This year’s book is titled The Fire Keepers Daughter by: Angeline Boulley. The Museum has free copies of the book available for the community\, and there are many community programs and book groups available to you. \nProgram Type: Adults and older children. \nRegistration: https://buytickets.at/lakeshoremuseumcenter/1126932 \nFunding for these programs has been provided by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and National Endowment of the Arts. Also the Great Michigan Read\, NEH\, and MI Humanities.
