2020 Millage Renewal

2020 Millage Renewal

DON’T FORGET TO VOTE ON AUGUST 4th!

The Lakeshore Museum Center is FREE to Muskegon County residents thanks to your 40 years of millage support!

The Lakeshore Museum Center began in 1937 as the Muskegon County Museum. Over its 83 years it has had many homes but the most permanent has been the old YWCA building which opened as the museum in 1983 and still houses the Museum today. The Museum has been supported by a county-wide millage since 1981 and in 1986 the Museum added the Hackley and Hume Houses to its operations.

The renewal of the millage is critical to continue Museum operations. It helps provide education programs for over 24,000 school students each year, as well as supports the preservation, restoration, and exhibits of the museum and its Historic Sites.

IS THIS A NEW TAX?

• NO! This is an exact renewal of the current rate (.3221 mill) that residents have been supporting for the past 40 years. It will not increase your taxes.

• The average homeowner in Muskegon County will pay $32 a year.
